"no matter how much sleep i get i am too tired to do anything"
"have you tried going to bed earlier?"
This is not true. There are many Jews who oppose Israel. To criticize Israel is not to be antisemitic. I am Jewish, and I oppose Israel (and I know many others with similar beliefs). There are several Jewish organizations who also oppose Israel. The reason I oppose Israel is because they have committed many human rights atrocities. The Holocaust does not excuse Israel’s slaughter of innocent Gazans, including children, nor does it excuse Israel’s illegal settlements on the West Bank, nor its human rights violations of Palestinian Israeli citizens. Please see this post, where I go into more detail. This post also has more information. I also have posted extensively on this topic in my Gaza, Palestine, and Israel tags.
We also do not need to steal land from other people and commit ethnic cleansing in Palestine to “be free of persecution.” We can fight antisemitism around the world without making Palestinians pay for it: the Holocaust and European antisemitism is not their fault.
1. What human rights atrocities? Bombing innocents? International Law states that the killing of civilians is not a war crime unless it is done with intent and/or the deaths of civilians are exceedingly disproportionate to the value of a military target to the war effort. Know your law.
2. There is no ethnic cleansing. Honestly this is just ridiculous. I am really fucking tired of people throwing that term about, tired of people throwing around the word genocide like its so meaningless. Do you know why people keep referring to the Holocaust? BECAUSE THAT IS A REAL GENOCIDE.
I’m sorry but 1,000 dead civilians is not a genocide, but collateral damage. It is unavoidable in war, and the IDF has gone to extreme measures to prevent more deaths from occurring. They have sent text messages, sent leaflets out, called up people in their homes, interrupted radio broadcasts. And don’t you dare say that Gaza is the most densely populated place on earth and they have nowhere to go. They know where to go, and they certainly have more than a few minutes to get out.
3. Stealing what land? The land belongs to the jews, end of story.
First of all, in those links, I listed in lots of detail the many human rights atrocities Israel has committed and continues to commit. If you want to have a discussion with me, you should at least take the time to look at the evidence and arguments I put forward. It’s obvious you didn’t look at the links based on your arguments, many of which were addressed in the links. I’ll put some of them here even though it’s a big waste of my time to copy paste when you could simply click the links:
First of all, it’s not just “1,000 dead Gazans” even though it’s gross for you to downplay it like that. This is an ongoing assault on Palestinians and Gaza that has been going on a long time. Excerpt from my first link:
It’s important to acknowledge that nothing we’re seeing is new: Israel has been doing this to Gaza and the Palestinians as a whole for decades. This current bloody operation of Israel is Operation Protective Edge, but as recently as 2008, Israel engaged in a similar operation called Cast Lead which resulted in over 1300 Palestinian deaths within days (many of them, like this time, innocent people) and now they’ve killed over 1,000 people again. And the UN then, just they have now, suggested Israel is engaging in war crimes against Palestinians (see the last link). Israelis have killed Palestinian civilians long before Hamas existed. They started firing bombs at Gaza this time around before they discovered the tunnels. All their “reasons” for this attack are excuses.
Here’s more from the first link on other abuses Israel has done against Palestinians which DO violate international law (and have been called out BY the UN, Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International:
It’s also important to look beyond the lies and talking points on the pro-Israel side. Although Israel has accused Hamas of using Palestinians as human shields, there’s no conclusive evidence of it, but the UN accused Israel of using Palestinians as human shields in the past. There’s also evidence Israel has also used chemical weapons, white phosphorous bombs (a banned and brutal weapon), and other inhumane and illegal weapons against Palestinian civilians.
The UK Parliament recognizes Israel’s acts as human rights violations and war crimes. The UN is investigating Israel for war crimes due to this latest onslaught. This all despite the intense pressure to support Israel and the constant backlash against and censorship of pro-Palestinian or anti-Israeli statements. Even so, the international community is finally starting to speak up against Israel. People all over the world are [x] [x]. It’s totally off base to say Zayn and other Pro-palestine people are the ones who need to be informed here.
If you don’t believe me that they’re racist, Israelis have even forcefully kept Ethiopian JEWISH women from reproducing because they aren’t “Jewish enough” (aka they are Black) and they want to control the “purity” of their “demographics.” They are literally engaging in ethnic cleansing, genocide and eugenics. Israel’s system of racist profiling has become infamous (and is the model for US airports’ racist racial profiling system—Abunimah’s book also goes into these facts as well). Israel also has a racist electronic ID system that allows them to treat Israeli citizens differently according to their ethnicity and religion—and to carefully control and monitor the movements of Palestinian Israeli citizens—these are their OWN citizens, this is an obvious violation of human rights. They also refuse to give Palestinian refugees who lived in the land first and have been displaced from their homes the Right of Return, while allowing American Jews like me who have NO connection to the country a Birth Right, i.e. Israeli citizenship. I can, for example, go move into a house built where a Palestinian home was just demolished in the West Bank and live there.
And more from this other post, quoted from The Nation journalist is linked to in the second link:Palestinians have yet to experience a day of self-governance. Israel immediately imposed a siege upon the Gaza Strip when Hamas won parliamentary elections in January 2006 and tightened it severely when Hamas routed Fatah in June 2007. The siege has created a “humanitarian catastrophe" in the Gaza Strip. Inhabitants will not be able to access clean water, electricity or tend to even the most urgent medical needs. The World Health Organization explains that the Gaza Strip will be unlivable by 2020. Not only did Israel not end its occupation, it has created a situation in which Palestinians cannot survive in the long-term.
Israel is the only jewish state in the world. There hasn’t been a jewish state in almost a thousand years. It was created because of the nationalist movement Zionism, which was founded in the late 1890’s in response to growing global anti-semitism, and because of course the Holocaust which saw the world’s population of jews drop by 6 million.
Hamas has explicitly called for the destruction of Israel, and the destruction of the jewish people in their entirety. They even refer to the Quran to justify this disgusting call to genocide.
In this conflict, you are either with Israel, or you are against her. Even refusing to take sides is to enable hamas, to enable terrorism and to enable anti-semitism, that’s all there is to it. If you are against the existence of a jewish state where jews can FINALLY have self-determination and be free from the persecution to which they have been subject for thousands of years, then you are anti-semitic. It’s literally that simple.
Here’s what Israel actually means by human shields: “The people who go into a house despite a warning do not have to be taken into account in terms of injury to civilians, because they are voluntary human shields. From the legal point of view, I do not have to show consideration for them. In the case of people who return to their home in order to protect it, they are taking part in the fighting.” - a senior figure in the International Law Division (ILD) of the Israeli Military Advocate General’s Office.
So when Israelis say ‘human shields’ they mean people who were sitting in their home after they were told to leave. The status of these people is legally changed from “non-combatants” to “combatants” under Israeli law. The warning mentioned in the quote can be:
- Leaflets dropped from the air onto hundreds of thousands of people’s homes. Evacuation warnings to entire areas are illegal under international law. They are illegal even for small areas, and are considered a form of collective punishment.
- A phone call or text message telling the person their house will be bombed between one and five minutes from the time of the call. Again, under international law, this does not turn the person or their home into a legitimate target even if they do evacuate it.
- A “knock on the roof” which is a small missile dropped on the house which means the house will be bombed within one minute, giving no time to the inhabitants to actually leave before the second missile completely flattens their home.
On July 16, Israel dropped leaflets on 100,000 Gazans in northern Gaza to evacuate (5% of the entire population of Gaza). This means that Israel legally changed the status of 100,000 civilians to ‘combatants’, and Israel can legally kill them if they do not evacuate.
Besides, many homes were bombed while families were still evacuating. And countless homes, and a few schools sheltering people who fled their homes were confirmed bombed without any form of warning. So Israel has absolutely no legitimacy, even by its own twisted standards.
Israel’s settlements in West Bank ARE ALSO ILLEGAL under international law: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/01/31/un-panel-israeli-settlements-illegal_n_2589394.html
Why is Israel exempt from International Law? Why are they allowed to violate the rights of their own citizens (there are Palestinian Israelis who rights have been violated as I mentioned above), use illegal weapons on innocent civilians, attack hospitals, homes and schools in a disproportionate matter (your argument that it’s not disproportionate is clearly unsubstantiated and ludicrous; how can you defend them destroying entire neighborhoods or bombing children on the beach), and hold a whole population under siege? You say, “They know where to go, and they certainly have more than a few minutes to get out.” Where do you honestly expect them to go? Unlike Israelis, they have no bomb shelters and they have no airport and Israel also has blockaded them in the ocean. They are blocked on the other side by Egypt. They are blocked on every side. They are literally trapped. What sources are you reading?
There is no reason to refer to the Holocaust. I have family members who were killed in the Holocaust. I am Jewish. What do Palestinians have to do with that? Why should they be punished for the Holocaust? They weren’t Nazis. How can you deny it’s ethnic cleansing when, as I showed above, the Israeli government has literally forced contraception on Ethiopian women (who are Jewish by the way, it’s just racism at this point), aims to decrease repopulation among Palestinian Israelis and wants to keep their population a Jewish majority? They have literally referred to the fact more Palestinians may make up Israel in the future as a “demographic problem.” How is that not ethnic cleansing? They have driven or forced Palestinians to leave Israel as much as they can (even Palestinian Israeli citizens). Israelis have made millions of Palestinians into refugees and killed thousands of those who refuse to or can’t leave.
"The land belongs to Jews end of story" is not a real argument. These videos [x] [x] show a brief and straightforward history of the colonization of Palestine. Before European Jews came and took the land several decades ago, Palestinians made up a majority of the population. Jews were a small minority. Just because there was a Jewish nation there hundreds and hundreds of years ago does not mean that European Jews with no ties to the land can come in, demolish peoples homes, make millions of people refugees, kill innocent civilians, and subject many people to human rights violations and break tons of international laws.
Please look at and think about the sources and facts I provide before responding or we’ll just continue talking in circles.
The resin dried super fast today so I was able to get pictures of these guys. :D
I really, really like these. A lot. Even though the resin bubbled a lot more than it usually does, I was able to manipulate the bubbles to try and form them into bubble nests, which adds a lot to the cups I think. :)
- THE FISH ARE NOT REAL. They are made from polymer clay.
- The water is resin.
- The plants are real leaves and flowers I found in my backyard. The substrate is sand.
- They are in clear glass miniature cups so you can see through the cup at all angles.
- These will be available at Tampa Bay Comic Con (August 1-3). You can commission one once my commissions reopen after Comic Con.
- Please do not keep real betta like this! While these little bowls work fine for fake clay bettas, real bettas need at least 2.5 gallons (5 gallons would be better), a filter, and a heater. Please do your research before buying one of these awesome little fish. :)
That’s my queue tag
there’s this one girl at school who sends a mass text to the whole year group whenever she sees a dog so that we can go pat it too if we’re nearby and I have petted at least five dogs because of her that I wouldn’t have otherwise and idk I hope you all have someone like her in your lives
look at his lil pouty face i cant handle shinji (｡´∀｀)ﾉ
when i was in year 5, i did a speech on clumsiness for my school’s public speaking contest and to be clever, i tripped on my way to the stage dropping my note cards all over the place, but then i pulled the real ones out of my pocket saying ‘if you’re going to be clumsy, it pays to be prepared!’
everyone lost their shit and i got second place
If you got second place who got first… Did they talk about fire safety and burn the stage down or something
I love how these are the same cover just different backgrounds.
- Most girls on first day of school: -walks around school, finds old friends, gets new class list-
- Me on first day of school: -stumbles into random music room, breaks expensive vase, accidentally joins a host club-
